We end this day with an update from Maya's family:
“It’s been just over two years since we adopted Maya (previously Duchess at National Mill Dog Rescue). She wakes us up every day, dancing around and pawing at the edge of the bed to get our attention, so excited to start the day. She loves breakfast-time and she makes sure it's never late! We have two other dogs and we rely on them to help her navigate and know when to come in from outside. She is deaf and has some visual impairment, so it's a good thing she likes following them around. We have taught her to come with a certain hand gesture, but she is still a bit cautious. She adores having her ears rubbed, so if you're sitting on a couch, she'll most likely hover nearby in case you might want to rub them. I've never seen a dog in such a state of bliss before!
We knew adopting a senior dog would be work, but it's rewarding to know that we have given her a good home where she gets all the food, treats, and pets that she wants. We know we won't have much more time with her, but what she has left, we'll make as good as we can! Thank you for rescuing dogs like her and giving them a second chance.”
